Chinese 16th Century Ming Dynasty Granite Buddhism Eminent Chivalrous Monk Statue

Period & Style : 16th century, Ming dynasty 

Material :  Granite, CHINDOU stone 

Size & Weight : H. 23.6 in. ( 60 cm )   W. 15.8 in. ( 40 cm )

Condition :   Good, no damages.


The four Chinese characters incised on the the right hand side are "CHANG KUEI JUNG SHEE" - Donated by CHANG KUEI JUNG. ( Please see the last second photo. )

The incised characters on the the left side are "YU SHAN DAH XIA" - the Great Mountain Chivalrous Monk of YU. ( Please see the last third photo. )

According to the record of a sixth BC ancient Chinese philosophy book - "KUAN TZU", the mountain god's name was called "YU".

This stone statue was carved in the Buddhism Monk dressing, might be placed in an old Buddhism temple as a worship figure originally.
