This pair of marble carving are very rare and special; they look like lion, but with the dragon face and fat body. According to an old tale, the dragon had nine sons, one was called "KONG XIA", it liked drinking water. The stone "Kong XIA" carvings were placed on the bridges, the river banks to quell the flood in ancient China. Chinese people believe that the water is the wealth, so "KONG XIA" carving is taken as a symbol of wealth. A pair of ancient "KONG XIA" carvings are also taken as a lucky decor in the FENG SHUI, can bring the people a good influence of wealth. |
