The
Liangzhu Culture ( ca. 3300-2200 B.C. ), distributed around the lower reaches of the Yangtze River, had its center in modern southern Kiangsu and northern chekiang provinces, China.

This region was in fact home to the ancient Yueh Culture, known for a particularly sophisticated jade-working tradition.
